Building codes protect city
Scottsdale uses the Uniform Building Code to govern construction for health and safety. The code varies by climate zones and applies to new buildings, with plans reviewed by multiple city departments. Inspections ensure compliance until a occupancy certificate is issued. Zone 1 rules focus on fire containment and non combustible roofs and walls, with stricter standards for stores and buildings housing large gatherings.
