The State Real Estate Department ordered Queen Creek Land and Cattle Corp to stop sales across all Arizona subdivisions and suspended licenses for the firm and broker Arthur D. Johnson. The complaint alleges out of state buyers signed fake reports in Valle Vista near Kingman while other approved lots were shown to them.
Phoenix UPI report says legislative leaders expect a plan to fund Arizona's needy Medicaid program by routing county contributions through the state general fund for legislative appropriation. House Majority Leader Burton Barr notes a revised formula lowers county funding from over 50 million to about 34 million, with 186 000 residents eligible. Counties would shift medical aid duties to the state under the federal state program.
Arizona lawmakers backed or opposed key measures in House roll calls from March 20 to 26. HR 4485 passed 259 106 to stimulate housing with HUD subsidies. Udall abstained. HR 2166 tax relief failed 197 214 then advanced. Rhodes Steiger Conlan voted yea. Udall nay. HR 4296 farm bill passed 259 162 with $470 million in target price and loan rate support. Udall yea nay noted. Senate tobacco amendment rejected 26 55. energy solar insulation amendment adopted 64 32 with Fannin Goldwater yeas. Child care deductions adopted 66 39. Fannin Goldwater nay.
