Laird Named As Director Of Recreation In Scarsdale
Marshall Russell Laird of Atlantic City New Jersey appointed Scarsdale’s first recreation director. He will start immediately, with wife Susan and four month old seeking living quarters. Mrs Laird and Susan delay relocation from North Carolina. Laird, a Navy veteran, previously directed recreation at Workman Place House Philadelphia and Fleet City California. Mrs Laird, a UNC graduate, taught physical education. A football program for younger boys will begin at the high school field with donor and equipment needs solicited. He will work with the village recreation advisory board chaired by Mrs Hazelwood with members including Mrs Bloch and others.

Brady wins Scarsdale Women’s Championship in two and one
Mrs George Brady captures the Scarsdale Golf Club women’s title with a two and one victory last Friday over Mrs John K Crimmins. She succeeds Mrs Richard Hellmann who did not defend. Crimmins, runner-up last year, shot 42 44 86 and first broke 90 this season. Brady’s 46 42 88. The match included a hole decision when Crimmins’s ball was misread after a caddy moved it.
