The village board approved no change in taxi licenses and set an October 8 public hearing for a first taxi ordinance update. The plan adds a Scarsdale zone near the station, tightens temporary licenses, and mandates taxi signs with owner names.

Local Registration Dates Set by Scarsdale League

The League of Women Voters of Scarsdale announces local registration in Scarsdale with dates September 30 to October 5. Voters must be 21 by November 6 and U S citizens with six grades completed, with moves or name changes requiring re registration. Absentee ballots available at Board of Elections through October 29. MacIntyre Rose To Greet New Residents In Scarsdale

Carol Yahr to Entertain at UNA USA Membership Party

Carol Yahr with her guitar will entertain at the UNA USA membership party this Sunday September 29 at 3 30 p m at the home of Mr and Mrs Joseph Alechey 13 Richbell Road. Also featured is a review by David F Linowes of UN aid to underdeveloped countries. Miss Yahr, a Barnard student, is known for Edgemont High School musical roles and Vivaldi Gloria solo performances.

League of Women Voters challenge weighted voting in court

The New York Court of Appeals will hear the LWV Westchester case on October 8. LWV leaders seek to overturn a Board of Supervisors weighted plan already deemed constitutional by a state judge, arguing apportionment must be constitutional to protect voters.

School Census Begins October

The annual school census will be taken in the village from October 1 to October 15. Mrs. Philip Carpenter leads about 15 Scarsdale women as census enumerators with letters from the Board of Education. Citizens are urged to cooperate and provide the required information.

The Scarsdale Board of Education schedules a special election October 23 from 2 p.m. to 9 30 p.m. at Scarsdale Junior High School to fill two vacancies with terms ending June 30 1973 and June 30 1971. Fire destroys Saxon Woods Road Animal Farm in Scarsdale

A fire at the Brook property on Saxon Woods Road gutted the frame house housing a trainer's collection of animals including llamas and camels. About 75 volunteers responded as investigators labeled the blaze suspicious in origin. Rats fled the scene as crews fought the flames and removed the last animals.

Urban League Enrolls 16000 New Voters in Westchester Drive

The Urban League of Westchester reports over 16000 new registrations during the Summer 6é Voter Registration Drive. In alliance with the NAACP and civil rights groups, the effort targets the county’s nonwhite population across 18 communities.

United Fund names two chairmen for 1968 drive
