After a seven week break a rash of seven burglaries hit Scarsdale in one week. Jewelry valued at 2470 was taken from Mrs. Archibald at the Chateaux Apartments between 9 30 am and 1 30 pm on Tuesday Sept 16. A gateman was missing. A second theft struck the Chateau Burgundy on Sept 18. The Burrows at 161 Mamaroneck Rd returned Sept 16 to a ransacked house with a missing portable TV. Police noted entry by forced jalousie window and a sign of no alarm. A Sept 18 burglary at 5 Stonehouse Lane found property dropped in the yard with no loss. Another Sept 18 break at 29 Cornell Rd found no missing items. Police urge precautions and note alarms deter break ins.
