In a Saturday baseball clash Scarsdale A C defeated Mount Vernon YMCA 6 to 4 after a close, evenly played contest. Scarsdale benefited from strategic position changes and stronger batting after a 3-3 tie through eight innings. Mount Vernon added one run in the ninth. scattered totals and fielding notes accompany the tight game recap.
Next Saturday at Scarsdale Golf Club a mixed foursome match will be played with silver medals awarded to the winners. The Men’s Championship will be held in October with qualifying medal play on October 3 and match play on subsequent Saturdays. Greens 13 and 17 were damaged by pests. efforts to remove them have largely failed. Miss Washburn Miss Coles Miss Ford and Miss A Crane defeated a Siwanoy Club team 5 to 1 on September 12. a return match is expected next week.
Last week's storm caused considerable damage in the Scarsdale area. A large limb tore from a chestnut tree near the thirteenth green at Scarsdale Golf Links and an old cherry tree fell. The main hazard is twenty feet of wall along West Main Road opposite Dr. Oliver A. Hyatt's residence washed away, creating risk until the wall is rebuilt.

Mr. T. B. Lee has given two talks at Firemen’s Hall on India illustrated with stereoscopic pictures. Tonight he plans to answer questions from the community about the people and the country. A number of questions were handed in on Sunday and a good meeting is expected.
