Forty Scarsdale merchants attended the first fall gathering in the Harwood Building. Charles M. English chaired as president. Seven new members joined, bringing total dues to thirty nine. A committee led by Thomas Trish will press village officials on commercial trash removal and parking enforcement in Harwood Court. Christopher Pratt of Fox Meadow Road endured thirty six hours of exposure and hunger after wrecking his Chris Craft speed boat on Garden Island during a Friday gale. Arthur Hillegas of Cumberland Head spotted a distress signal and rescued Pratt who swam to shore and rejoined his party on the yacht bound for New York.

Village stops local milk quality tests
Following a notice that the Westchester County Department of Health has taken over milk examination, the village board discontinued the village tests on milk sold within the village. Dr. Ralph Ryan, medical officer, said the county would cover the health work, saving twenty five dollars a month for the village.

Westchester County Board of Supervisors created thirteen positions and fixed salaries to administer Old Age relief, effective January 1 1931. Notifies Board of Tenant Complaint Over Road Widening

Arrest of Two Men in Stolen Car
Two men driving a Chevrolet coach ran a red light at Post and Heathcote Roads and were arrested by Scarsdale Patrolman Charles Doyle. They admitted taking the car from 207th Street in New York City and were held at the local jail before transfer to New York City police. Suspects were Thomas Anderson and Joseph V. La Velle, both NYC residents. Car owner Fred Horowitz of Grantwood was identified.

Scarsdale Schools Enroll Record Total for Opening Day
Enrollment at Scarsdale public schools reached 1690 on the opening day, up from 1310 last year. Edgewood had 471 pupils, Fox Meadow 375, Greenacres 344, and the High School 500. Full registration will finish by early October as families return from summer homes and additions at Greenacres and Edgewood cut the need for part time classes.

Health report to Village Board on village illnesses
Since the last board meeting in June eight measles four mumps three chickenpox and one whooping cough have been reported to Scarsdale health officer Dr Ralph R Ryan. At the start of this week school opened with one chickenpox one whooping cough and one mumps case in the village.
