Water Main Burst Floods Scarsdale Area Streets
A sixteen inch main ruptured on Scarsdale avenue near Popham road Thursday about nine o clock. Water surged along Scarsdale, washing pavement and shrubbery, and forcing traffic onto Ardsley Road. The Water and Highway departments arrived within minutes to plug the break and begin repairs. The old main, bought in 1921 from Consolidated Water Company, caused widespread service disruption as pressure dropped village wide. Residents complained at Village Hall about lack of notice before water was turned off.

Rotary Club Hears Vacation Yarns at Luncheon
At the Tavern last Wednesday Ralph Underhill Scarsdale Schools superintendent shared details of his Maine boys camp. About 100 campers registered this year with lake and mountain trips and self sufficient shelter building. Lodges in the Presidential Range cost one dollar per person per night plus one dollar for meals. Albert Herbert Scarsdale Receiver of Taxes spoke on Maine trips sixty miles from rail and 150 miles north of Bangor. Dr A E Davis of Scarsdale caught a four pound trout and Herbert noted a three pound salmon. Fire safety requires a guide in Maine woods and Dr D Austin Sniffen of White Plains Rotary sang.

About 75 children from Scarsdale Playground visited Yankee Stadium to watch the Yankees play Washington. Babe Ruth hit two home runs for the group, accompanied by Mrs. William Cartwright and others. Auto mobiles provided by friends carried the party, who carried their lunches. Passes came via the American League Baseball Association.

A cold Wednesday brought a turnout of sixteen month or younger babies at the Brook Street Playground contest. Gets Summons Instead of Expected
Ernest H. Slayburgh of 72 Livingston avenue Yonkers drove to Scarsdale and parked on the Post road near Gorham place. After midnight he found his car missing and reported it as stolen. Instead he was summoned for a parking violation and later found his car in a side road with lights out.

Mrs Healey Crashes Car Into Semaphore
Mrs Healey of Central avenue drove her car into a traffic semaphore at East Parkway and Popham road. The car remained stuck on the base, light toppling onto the vehicle without causing injury. She offered to pay for any damage.

Labor Day Car Chase Ends With Intoxicated Driver
Carl Anderson of Woodside Park New Rochelle drove off after police halted him following a collision near Police Headquarters. Patrolman Joseph Faulkner pursued the car firing into the air to stop it. Anderson, detained for driving while intoxicated, claimed to understand stop and halt but did not stop. He was jailed pending bail.
