Red Cross Resumes Scarsdale Branch Operations

The Scarsdale branch of the American Red Cross will reopen next Monday September 8. It will operate five days a week, Mondays through Fridays from 10 to 12 at Room 305 in the Harwood Building.

Fort Hill Players Begin 13th Season With Tryouts

The Fort Hill Players open their 13th season with a Monday meeting at Greenville Community House. After a brief session, fall play tryouts for Robert E. McEnroe's The Silver Whistle will be held for a November 14 and 15 Edgemont School auditorium performance directed by Louis W. Flace. Fort Hill officers for 1952-53 include President Mrs. Lionel V. New Pile Foundation Installed in Eastchester

A 7000 pound ram installed a new type of pressure injected spread footing foundation in Eastchester for the Scarsdale Bus Co. Franks Foundation Co. introduced the method after unfavorable set conditions halted an ordinary foundation. The system, long used in Belgium and 36 countries, injects concrete to deepen foundations with minimal excavation.

Hospital corpsman serves aboard USS Los Angeles on northern Pacific cruise

Martin D. Misenhimer, hospital corpsman third class USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joy B. Misenhimer of Gilmore Court, entered Naval service Sept 18, 1950. He previously served at National Naval Medical Center Bethesda Md, and is now aboard the heavy cruiser USS Los Angeles after a cruise along the northern Pacific coast. New Entrance Exit Plan for Scarsdale Woman's Club

Brennan Named County Judge Brennan Nominated for Supreme Court

Rainy Labor Day Caps Wet August in Scarsdale

August brought substantial rainfall with 7.49 inches in Scarsdale and a Labor Day total of 1.62 inches. Ground winds reached gale force at 45 mph. Temperature highs reached 89 and lows 53 in August with notable records since 1943 and 1949.

Women Golfers Honor Mrs David Lindquist Tourney at Scarsdale

The Lisa Lindquist tournament, an 18 hole medal play event at Scarsdale Golf Club on Tuesday, honored Mrs David L Lindquist a longtime member and honorary scorekeeper for the Women’s Golf Assn. Mrs W D Gaillard won first low net 100-22-78 with Mrs Donald Spencer second low net 91-12-79. Spenser and R J Hill tied in putting contest with 27. Drivers Urged to Use Extra Care as School Opens

Lieut. James M. Lyons of Scarsdale Police urged motorists to slow down and be vigilant as school returns. He called for the September Child Safety program and asked drivers to treat children as unpredictable, watching for youngsters on streets, near schools, playgrounds, and vacant lots.

Bus schedules for Scarsdale and Quaker Ridge Schools appear on page 10. Edgemont School district riders to Scarsdale High will use two buses starting next Monday. One bus departs Fort Hill Rd at High Point Rd at eight, then via Fort Hill Rd Central Ave Hartsdale Four Corners Clubway to the high school. The second departs Old Army Rd at Central Ave at 8 10, then via Old Army Rd Ardsley Rd Popham Rd to the high school. Return trips begin at 3 20 for both routes.

Dr Marsh to Retire After 21 Years as Health Deputy

Dr Edward N Marsh county deputy commissioner of health will retire from public service on Sept 20 after 21 years in office. He is currently on terminal leave and serves on the board of editors of the Westchester Medical Bulletin and is a past president of the Westchester Tuberculosis and Public Health Assn.
