Tennis Courts Stall Open to Residents
Scarsdale residents may use the high school tennis courts seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for fifty cents per court, with school children using them free Monday to Friday 9 to noon. Sgt Dwight Beardsley Eldred Jr son of Mr and Mrs Dwight B Eldred of Eton Lodge was buried Monday in Saint James the Less church yard. The 42nd Rainbow Division infantryman died in action crossing the Main River in Germany during the Wurzburg assault on April 8 1945. He is survived by his parents a sister Anne and a brother John Alored of Scarsdale.

Two youths aged 14 and 16 from the Children's Village were caught in Saratoga for raiding A. L. Carroll's home at 220 Underhill Road on Friday August 27. They had $6 left of $48 taken and a jewelry box vanished. a bracelet pendant locket and sorority pins were missing. The younger boy hid the box then claimed he hadn’t touched it while the older boy had planned to steal a bicycle but left it behind. Miss Carroll found doors reportedly locked upon leaving at 10:30 a.m. and returning at 10 p.m.

Two Aliens Apprehended By Scarsdale Police
Two Italian aliens were apprehended last Monday night by Pa trolman Thomas Fitzmaurice and Patrolman Walter Heinzinger of the Scarsdale Police Department. They were kept in custody and questioned due to recent burglaries. Arrested on illegal entry charges, they arrived on different ships as dishwashers and wandered when ships docked. Interpreting was by Thomas Petrucelli of Garth Road. They were turned over to immigration authorities for deportation.
