Scarsdale Heathcote and Quaker Ridge prepare for a district wide experiment to retain all sixth grades in elementary schools. three sixth grade classes per school will cover language arts reading social studies science math and PE art music and a weekly 90 minute session of home economics or industrial arts with mid year switch. Heathcote aims to core social studies taught by home room teachers while Quaker Ridge assigns specialists to each subject and plans replacement for pregnancy leave. Students will be bussed between schools for these sessions.
