County faces all time high tax rate in 1947 budget
County Executive Herbert C. Gerlach filed the proposed 1947 budget with the Board of Supervisors showing a $6.65 per $1,000 assessed valuation tax rate, up $1.01 from 1946 and an overall budget of $17,606,867. The levy would rise to $13,873,071, with salaries up about 50 percent over 1941 and capital spending limited to $433,500 including airport improvements.

Burglar Caught In Jersey Linked To Scarsdale Home Theft
A Hamilton home on 271 Mamaroneck Road was burglarized on November 15. Jewelry, a diamond ring and a camera valued at over 1400 dollars were stolen. Police traced a suspect to Bloomfield New Jersey and linked him to prior local burglaries. Extradition and further charges expected as investigations continue.

The Scarsdale Chapter of the American Veterans Committee voted against any form of state bonus at a Monday meeting in Hitchcock Memorial Church. State Senator Pliny Williamson will discuss the issue at the December 9 gathering at 8 15 p m in the Children's House.
