Scarsdale taxpayers receive a circular from the police regulation committee proposing to light public highways with twenty candle power lamps at 20 per annum for about 13.7 miles of roads. The plan includes 193 lamps costing roughly 3,860 annually, aiming to boost safety and property values amid anti crime efforts and looming town improvements.
The Sunday School at Arthur Man Or held its anniversary celebration on Monday November 11 with recitations chares solos and music. Mr Street and Mr Pritchard spoke as members and parents enjoyed the event. The school has completed seven years and formed a Christian Endeavor Society and ongoing preaching services often in summer. Since last spring White Plains Congregational Church has aided Sunday services and they plan to make this a permanent weekly activity at 3:30 PM in winter inviting all to attend.
James L Burt longtime Harlem Railroad conductor remembered for courtesy and kindness by Scarsdale commuters. He died Saturday November 8 and funeral services were held at Grace Church White Plains Monday afternoon with interment in Woodlawn.
Morris Thayer will marry Edith Kirkpatrick Allen next Tuesday at the Union Congregational Church in Worcester Massachusetts. A reception will follow at the bride’s parents’ home.

A convention of the local union of Young People's Societies convenes at White Plains Baptist Church on Mamaroneck Avenue. A business session at 7:30 p m and a public session at 8 p m, led by Louis A. Black, features addresses from ministers of Treenville Reformed, White Plains Baptist, White Plains Methodist, and White Plains Congregational churches. Opening devotional is by Arthur O. Pritchard. music by a quartet: Mrs. Ward, Mrs. Sniffen, Mr. Randolph, Dr. Sniffen.
Mr. Hitchcock plans a new road opposite Mr. Watt’s home, linking to the Post Road near Fox Meadow gateway. The project will access a scenic ridge described as among the finest in Westchester County.
