The Scarsdale Community Fund raised 76239.22 dollars, topping the 54750 goal by 6489.22 and leaving a 15000 surplus. Special gifts drew strong returns though a few are still unreported. Chairman Carl H. Reker led special gifts and Harold M. Eddy led the general fund with broad resident support.
Lieutenant junior grade Thomas W. Attridge Jr USNR husband of Edith Clark of 68 Drake Road received the Air Medal for meritorious aerial achievement in January 1945. He piloted a fighter with Fighting Squadron forty four attached to USS Langley, engaging enemy aircraft and targets around Luzon Formosa French Indochina and the Ryukyu Islands, repeatedly braving anti aircraft fire to inflict significant enemy damage.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Petschek of Birchall Drive and their daughter Susan were injured in a November 1 crash on the Merritt Parkway at New Canaan. The car left the road, overturned, and burned. all were treated for shock and injuries, with Mrs. Petschek listed as most seriously hurt. Susan was released from Norwalk Hospital soon after.
Mrs Samuel E Darby Jr of 28 Oak Lane reports three signs with numbers 40 49 and 126 planted on her lawn by Halloweeners. Her own number 28 is missing and she invites the return of the signs to reclaim her number.

W F Kennedy chairman of the East Scarsdale Association zoning committee was named by the board to study turning the old Boston and Westchester Railway bed into an express highway. The association covers over 400 Crossways area families and faces opposition from the 48 family Secor Farms Property Owners Association which argues the project is unnecessary would lower land values and disrupt homes.
Building plans for October total $55,075 in Searsdale include two single family houses and a two story eight room home. Also filed were a six room $14,000 house, garages, improvements, and a terrace.
The Wayside Players of Scarsdale present the three act comedy My Sister Hileen at the High School Auditorium on Friday, November 15 to benefit the Scarsdale Policemen's Benefit Fund. Directed by Mrs. George Kindred with George Matthews in production, the cast includes Mr. Appopolous Ruth Sherwood Kay Andrews Eileen Sherwood and many others.

Scarsdale police faced a 200-teen mob at Greenacres playground Thursday night as goal posts were toppled and fireworks and home made bombs used. A windshield was shattered on Edith Just's car near the high school and grass fires kept firemen busy while other areas were quiet as youths collected door to door.

McDonald honorary Foreign Policy Association figure and National Refugee Service director will headline the third annual Scarsdale Children to Palestine dinner at the Scarsdale Woman's Club on Tuesday December 3 at seven. He served on the Anglo American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine and will discuss related work.

Davidson, director of Scarsdale Community Service, Inc., will discuss what neighborhood associations do to help with children's problems at the Adult School lecture series on Living With Our Children next Tuesday evening at the High School. She recently spoke at a Family Service Association of America forum in New York and will continue lectures on social work to provisional members of the Scarsdale Unit of the New York Junior League with sessions set for November 11 and 25.
