St Pauls M E Church Welcomes Dennistons with Reception

St Pauls M E Church in Hartsdale hosted a reception for Rev and Mrs Denniston in the church lecture room on April 29. A welcome address from A Burnside opened the evening, followed by a response from the pastor. The program featured piano and vocal pieces, duets, and comic recitations, with ice cream and cake served at the close.

Pastor Addresses Woman Suffrage and Y M C A Work

The sermon debated woman suffrage with focus on home preservation and societal powers. An evening talk by C D Connell on Y M C A youth work highlighted his experience guiding boys and launching programs. He noted White Plains Y M C A faced financial strain and planned a twelve day drive for thirty three thousand dollars, which was reported as accomplished.

Town Board weighs action against out of town banks

At a special meeting Frederick Geller was authorized to sue banks in Mount Vernon Liberty Livingston Manor for town funds moved to individuals. Possible suit could target the White Plains Road Improvement fund misuses totaling 16500 dollars. Board also eyed right of way on Young property for sewers and voted 300 dollars for Dunwoodie Street upgrades. Notification to NY and Conn and Westchester Electric Railroads required to pave White Plains Road. Sale of White Plains improvement bonds to Adams and Company approved.

National Tennis at Hartsdale Opens Weeklong Event

The County Tennis Club of Westchester hosts a major open tournament under the U S National Lawn Tennis Association at Greenacres clubhouse near Hartsdale N Y next Saturday afternoon at 2 30 with matches running all week. Top interest centers on Alexander and Hackett versus Touchard and Hall as events include Men s Doubles and Singles plus handicap and consolation prizes.

Scarsdale Golf Club Hosts Decoration Day Events

Scarsdale Golf and Country Club at Hartsdale schedules a Decoration Day program with an eighteen hole handicap match against par at 9 A.M. and an eleven hole medal play handicap at noon. A Walter A. Pearson Memorial Cup is the prize. Also Saturday golf ball sweeps and a Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association one day tournament are planned, plus a members’ dinner that evening.

The scarlet Liberty Coach, famed by former millionaire owners, runs from Gedney Farm Hotel near White Plains to Long Island events. Westchester County Declared Under Dog Quarantine

The State Agricultural Department notified Sheriff William J. Doyle that Westchester County is under a dog quarantine. The order requires confinement or muzzling to prevent bites and bans any dog from leaving the district. fines apply if payment is not made within three days, with enforcement by county authorities.

Busy Day in Court Under Scorching Heat
