Owls Take Up Residence in Scarsdale Junior High
Two baby Great Horned owls named Fenimore and Cooper moved into Room 56 Cooper House at Scarsdale Junior High on May 5. Students watched feeds and care provided by Miss Florence Jacobs and science teacher John Sugarbaker, as the birds gained trust and the class learned about their needs. Cooper weighed about three pounds, Fenimore slightly over three, with talons near three quarters of an inch and a 44 inch wingspan.

Scarsdale Seniors Win French Contest Honors
Two Scarsdale High School seniors won top prizes in contests run by the American Association of the Teachers of French. Carol Raymond placed first in the statewide Fourth Year French contest. Sally Shipman won the Third Year French statewide title and national third place. About 60,000 students competed nationally. Both winners receive AATF medals, and Sally earns a French government medal to be presented in New York City.
