A new special committee will review the Town Club non-partisan nomination system and the Board of Education nominating resolution adopted in 1933 and amended in 1939. Retiring president William Britton Stitt reported dissatisfaction with the system after two years of study and said Allen S. Wilber will appoint the panel next fall.

Large Bank Merger Could Create County's Largest Firm
A proposed merger of County Trust Company Washington Irving Trust Company and Bank of Westchester Yonkers would form County Trust Company with assets around 120 million dollars. If approved by the State Banking Department and Federal Reserve Board the plan would move to the three banks' directors and stockholders. Gross receipts reached about 6700 dollars with a Thursday auction alone grossing 650 dollars.
