Village Board declares Clean Up Days to remove ashes rubbish and debris. Citizens urged to clear vacant lots brush and rubbish and oil pools to curb mosquitoes. Residents to work on toys and improve Scarsdale for a tidy summer.

The Annual meeting of the Missionary and Aid Society of the First Congregational Church of Scarsdale held last Friday noon at the residence of Mrs. John W. Dickinson on Tenrieth Road. Officers elected include President Mrs. George D. Milne Vice President Miss Matie Hersy Secretary Mrs. Hermanehr Treasurer Mrs. Franklin Henshaw and chairs for Foreign Home and Work committees with several named members.
Plans are completed for a euchre party in the Parish House of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary next Friday evening May 29. Prizes for players and nonplayers include hams sugar bags and other useful items.Mr Charles H Chrystal will direct the games and the event is expected to draw a large crowd.
Jacob Biter of Scarsdale was found incompetent by a dunacy commission led by Dr. E A Rayman and Dr C W Johnson. He was ordered admitted to the state hospital at Poughkeepsie with commitment papers prepared. Nurses from the hospital were summoned Monday afternoon. Biter had hidden in an ice box on Eleventh Avenue Mount Vernon and displayed violent behavior after a party.
The Village Board held a special meeting to award Post Road work contracts to James MacA of New York City. Work should start within ten days. The board also named Village President Ilson and Trustee Dunham to form a committee for a Memorial Day community celebration.
The Westchester Championship will be held at Scarsdale Country Club from June 7 to June 9. The event gathers local golfers for a three day match play format with players vying for the title.
The Westchester County Commission of General Safety reports progress from Washington as it backs resolutions calling for minimum prices on food products to spur agricultural output. Chairman A W Lawrence notes the President supports empowering Hoover to set such prices to protect farmers and prevent extortion, while the plan aims to raise acreage and stabilize markets despite opposition.
Amid wartime drives the Red Cross calls for surgical dressings and supplies to be produced at control workrooms with limited allotments for each sub committee. Volunteers urged to join, donate garments for northern France, and help garden and farm programs with wage classes for different age groups as Scarsdale plans summer labor and charity cannery.
A Richards Circus elephant herd stampeded while being driven through Scarsdale last Sunday. The frightened elephants fled a short distance before handlers captured them and restored order without reported injuries.
Scarsdale will host a large Memorial Day event with a parade from Station Park to the Village Hall, graves decorated on Church Lane, and ceremonies at the Village Hall led by Village President Rush Wilson. The procession will travel Autenrieth Road to the Episcopalian Church, return via Popham and Post roads to Fedimore, with students and residents attending.
Mrs Walton at Garden and Oxford roads Scarsdale hosts daily summer sessions from 10 a m to 5 p m to roll bandages and make compresses for the American Fund for the French Wounded. Volunteers welcomed who can spare any hour. ey F Walton opened her home for this effort.
The Village Board of Trustees will sit as Board of Assessors on Tuesday June 5 from 3 PM to 7 PM to hear grievances on the Village Assessment Roll and the Sewer Assessment Roll.
