Fire at the Scarsdale Post Office started from brush near the building and damaged the roof. A ladder assisted Mr. R C Senior and the North End Hose Company contained the blaze quickly, though letters were only water damaged and mail risked soaking due to the roof’s poor condition. Additional post office space is urged because of the roof leaks.
The Greenacre Tea House under Miss Cary Benanne opens with a crowd present as Miss Bensel announces plans for future events and notable guests in New York society.
A Republican caucus of Scarsdale town electors is scheduled for Thursday evening May 23 at 8 15 at Town Hall. Electors will choose a Town Committee and address any business before the caucus.
Prof Van Schack guides after school workouts as Y M C A official Baxley conducts badge tests for 50 to 100 yard dashes and jumps. Charles Snyder and George Welting set new badge marks in running broad jump and standing broad jump. Ferncliff property hosts the events with Mr Mercer assisting. After talks with Spencer J. Stewart, Yonkers officials expect a state funded Central Avenue pavement from New York City to the Greenburg line. The 14 foot wide road, built at state expense, may be widened to 18 feet or upgraded in pavement grade at Yonkers' cost. Pending approval by the Yonkers Common Council, the project could start by next summer with construction underway before fall.
