The event featured the Your Turn With the Bookwormy Quiz with Frederick Lewis Allen as host and a panel that included Warren Weaver, Vernon G. Hayes Receives British Empire Award for War Radio Planning
John S. Hayes of 22 Sherwood Place, station manager at WQXR, was awarded the Order of the British Empire by Lord Inverchapel on Friday May 9 in Washington D C. The citation credits him for planning organizing and executing the Allied Expeditionary Forces radio coverage on the Western Front. he is also decorated with the Legion of Merit Bronze Star and the French Croix de Guerre.

Scarsdale sets its twenty second waste paper campaign for Sunday May 18 starting at one o clock. Village trucks staffed by Boy Scouts and Legionnaires will collect all paper left at curbs with four freight cars expected to be loaded, the Greenville Fire Department contributing a fifth. The Mikado Presented by Scarsdale High School Cast
The Scarsdale High School combined choruses and senior orchestra staged The Mikado last Friday and Saturday. Morton Bley directed the orchestra with deft accompaniment and George Lawson assisted after George Hubbard's illness. Nanki Poo James McDowell delivered a bell like voice in a demanding role. Yum Yum Shipley Newlin charmed in her part. The opening second act choruses by the girls in kimonos and the bridal white Moon and I sequence were charming. Warren Dodson provided the comedy lead with a fine humorous style and a strong voice in Tit Willow. Ann Breckwold sang difficult Katisha parts well in duets and singles.
