Children Set Fire To An Oil Barrel
A Kingston avenue hut owned by B. T. Blake burned on March 10 after children set an oil barrel alight. Miss Emma J. Kearney reported the fire. Firefighters also battled a Ford touring car blaze owned by Charles Stowell on Saxon Woods road and a grass fire on Wayside lane. The White Plains unit then relayed a call to Scarsdale for a fireplace damper incident at George Murphy’s 2 Brayton road home.

Broadmoor Golf Club Opens Informally for Members
Scarsdale’s Broadmoor Golf Club on Weaver Street recently opened to members for inspection after remodeling. The clubhouse is rebuilt with a fireproof hollow tile structure, housing for 300, a marble shower area, men's grill, enlarged kitchen, and sleeping quarters for members and wives or bachelor guests. Architects Buchman and Kahn also designed Quaker Ridge Fairview and Progress Club. The greens committee notes the course survived winter well and maintenance crews are working on it with play allowed on six holes.

Village Board Accepts Highest Bid for Sewer Bonds
Arthur Herbert announced on May 12 that Scarsdale National Bank and Trust Company offered the top bid for the $50,000 sewer bonds and the board approved the bid. Trustee James Baird reported worsening traffic at Greenacres avenue and Bronx Park way, urged bids for Hartsdale bridge work, and asked police to patrol the crossing until eight o clock. Cushman road property owners petitioned for paving at 50 percent cost, with a White Plains section discussed for partial paving.

Edgemont's annual dinner at Scarsdale Golf Club drew 170 guests May 7, the highest turnout yet, fifty more than prior gatherings. The six year old association began with twenty charter members.
