Capt Downey Returns Home From Korean Service
Capt. Robert B. Downey, son of Mr and Mrs Bradford Downey of Fort Hill Road, arrived in Seattle aboard the Marine Phoenix after nine months in Korea. He served four years as public information officer with the Third Infantry Division in World War II and was recalled from the Reserves in January 1951. The Scarsdale officer and his family plan to settle in the Scarsdale area after a return from duty. he previously worked in advertising at Remington Rand.

Confidence vote sustains school board in Union Free district
Voters in Union Free School District One gave the administration a record show of support at the annual meeting. A total of 1392 residents registered, 200 more than last year, with 1352 votes for reelected trustees Mortimer Rothschild and Malcolm C. Spence, and 1367 for Helge S. Johnson. The budget passed 1355 to 24 as 26 write ins were cast. The meeting approved forming an informal nucleus to mobilize future community backing for schools.
