Parent Teachers to Hold Meeting and Elections

The Parent Teachers will hold a meeting this afternoon at the High School where the annual election of officers will occur. Mr L L Thurber the historian will read a paper on work accomplished in the year and proposed plans for the coming year.

The Parent-Teachers group schedules another Community concert this Friday evening at the High School. A promising program has been arranged and is expected to be as successful and entertaining as the recent prior event.

Mr Ramar Garmony, once with Angell and Cont, answers the call to join the Mosquito Fleet as a gunner's mate. Red Cross Circus And Tennis Benefit In White Plains

On May 17 a first class circus will tour White Plains with tents side shows lemonade and popcorn. Ten percent of ticket sales go to the Red Cross plus 25 percent of each town ticket net. A tennis tournament on May 20 at the Westchester County Tennis Club in Hartsdale raises funds for the Red Cross with $1 entry and fifteen clubs already entered.

Civic Association designates clean-up week plans at meeting

The South Scarsdale Civic Association met at the Borough Fire House with Mr. Marsh presiding. Proposals included replacing the bulletin board, cleaning 150 feet around Carman Avenue, and residents volunteering to fund the work. The group aims to clean any unkept area, weather permitting.

Cottage at Farm to Open Soon

The Community Farmers press ahead despite cold weather opening the Wayside cottage as an information center for agriculture. Meteorite Fragment From Santa Fe Exhibit At School

Mr J W Dickenson presented to the High School a meteorite fragment from Santa Fe Arizona that fell in 1884 The entire meteorite was about feet in diameter and plunged about 1 feet into the ground For a year the cavity could not be approached due to intense heat He also donated a tree section from the Laur le forest to be shown in the School Library for exhibition

Mr Generazzo of Scarsdale faced Judge Mercer on a charge of dumping garbage on Paul McJunken’s property. The judge suspended the sentence for a week after Generazzo appeared on May 7.

Fire Destroys Auto at Igwood Avenue Garage

A fire last Monday destroyed a car body owned by the Lesca Garage proprietor on Igwood Avenue. Fire engines arrived and the blaze was controlled after nearly all of the body burned away. Estimated damage stands at 1000 dollars. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
