Authorities seek to establish a trolley linked mail route between local towns to replace sending letters to New York. They argue direct trolley transmission would improve delivery, reduce delays, and benefit business in Yonkers Mount Vernon and surrounding areas by avoiding detours through New York.
Henry E. Jenkins district superintendent of schools of York ay spoke to the Town Taxpayers Club at the schoolhouse on nee Avenue. His subject was New York City schools and his remarks drew a large audience from Scarsdale and other residents along with Taxpayers’ Club members.
A White Plains Mount Vernon trolley car was blocked for about thirty minutes after a crash near Scarsdale Town Hall on Monday afternoon. The car skidded and struck a curb, throwing the chauffeur but causing no injuries.
The Real Estate Show welcomes large Canadian real estate firms adding space at 700 square feet in the Palace exhibit area. The cross border presence aims to share development and selling methods more than a single company, drawing New York interest and showcasing projects in Westchester and beyond.
The Bronx Valley sewer bill passed by the legislature and signed by the governor is now law. It extends the term of present commissioners and allows trunk sewer connections while halting the injunction against Leake and Mattes Orphan Asylum. The closure cancels Arbor Vexerc and postpones the school district voters’ meeting, with notice of the postponement printed elsewhere.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Tuckahoe announces the appointment of Rev. Richard Cushion of Orange County New York as successor to Rev. J J McCormick. Cushion, a Rye native and St. Xavier’s graduate, will assume charge Monday and may lead Sunday services. He studied at St Joseph’s Seminary Yonkers and was ordained at St Patrick’s Cathedral by Archbishop Corrigan. He previously served as assistant at St Jerome’s Morrisania and as meceepee for the Catholic at Milton N Y.
The second class of the Order of the Crown was conferred on Paul M. Warburg of Hartsdale by Emperor Wilhelm. A banker with Kuhn Loeb & Company, he serves as director of Missouri Pacific Railway United States Mortgage and Trust Company and Wells Fargoress Company and is a director or trustee at several major institutions.
