A nearly fifty foot section of the retaining wall on the White Plains Post road across from the Congregational Church collapsed around 6 AM Tuesday. The sidewalk dropped about twenty feet onto Walter Collet’s property, roped off since. Street official Arthur Bouton says the wall has been unstable due to seasonally soft ground and heavy traffic vibrations.

Two Cars Collide on Walbrooke Road In Late Friday Incident
Mrs. Benjamin Van Doren of 27 Walbrooke road and delivery wagon driver Henry Szaniawski of Popham road collided on Walbrooke road last Friday at six. The crash damaged the running board and right front side of Mrs. Van Doren’s car as the wagon skidded while she turned into her driveway.

Tentative Budget Sets Village Tax Rate at 7.37

Water Rates May Be Lower
A village committee studying possible lower water rates said its report is not ready but discussed Governor Smith's bill requiring New York City water billed at cost to county communities. Magowan Wins Scarsdale Trap Trophy After Shoot-off
David Magowan defeated seven tied contestants at Scarsdale Golf Club by breaking 24 of 25 birds in the final, claiming the trap shooting trophy. Arthur Hebard set a new all time 25 straight record with 25 24 24 23 in his four 25 strings, while H B Hart broke the 52 straight birds mark. The scratch scores also list Hebard 96 and Magowan 87 as top performers. The season ends April 1 with a 200 bird scratch championship at 1 30 PM.
