Organ Recital at Church of the Immaculate Heart

Lenten oratorio held Tuesday evening March 20 at the Church of the Immaculate Heart featured Miss Ly M Nugent as chair and soloists from several churches. Noted performances by Miss Gehle, Mrs. Winona George Don, Mr. Wiliston Tatn, Mrs. Elizabeth Darrow, and Mrs. Theodore Purcell drew praise for expressive playing and refined ensemble work. The program included works by Luigini, Godard, Rossini, and Verdure with violin and organ quartets, described as a notable artistic event of Lent season.

A residence on Cross Street burned last Thursday night with most of the structure lost. Fire engines arrived but could not save the building. Captain Bester Dobbs was thrown from an engine, sustaining a deep cut to the foot and days of incapacitation as the origin of the blaze remained under review.

Seekers First Social a Grand Evening in Scarsdale

The Seekers Society of Scarsdale hosted its inaugural social Saturday at Mrs J Tea Sing's home with dancing, games, and a dainty collation. A flag was presented to the Village Board by Mrs Ross during the Trustees meeting held last Monday night in the Village Hall. The flag was noted as the work of the namesake maker of the American flag. The board accepted the flag with appreciation at the session.
