The Scarsdale Nursing and Relief Association urges all residents to join and support relief for those in temporary need due to illness or unemployment. Mrs. Sanford at the Settlement House offers nurse services, and the group reports about two hundred contributing families and around three thousand people affected by its work.
The Greenville Reformed Church hosted a suffrage lecture Wednesday evening despite severe weather. Ushers in yellow sashes distributed souvenirs to attendees, while Mrs Brown arrived with Mrs Ernest J. Hanford and was welcomed by the West Side Equal Suffrage Club president Mrs Joseph Wyman. Mrs Brown spoke on rapid progress in the movement.
A circulating letter prompts a stormy South Scarsdale Civic Association meeting at Sprague Avenue Fire House about acquiring the Old School House for a Village Hall. Voter action on March 20 may approve $33,000 for the site, with further school bond implications totaling about $173,000.
The Villages Board held a regular meeting noting the Consolidated Water Company water analysis showing good quality. A typhoid case and measles in local homes were reported, with the board pursuing legal action for contract and penal violations.
Village held an election at Village Hall with Rush Wilson chosen as Village President and F H Bethell Lawrence Dunham as Trustees for two years. George W Both elected Treasurer and Chester A Dobbs Collector. Propositions 1 2 3 and 4 passed by wide margins amid voter confusion over trustee voting and women voters with property interests. Inspectors Vorhis Furthman Beese Ross certified the results.
A resident faced a traffic ordinance violation charges on March 17 and was fined after appearing before the court officials.
A musical concert will be held in the High School auditorium this Saturday at 3 p m under the auspices of the Parent Teachers Association. The program features works by American composers with Olive Mead as violinist Mrs W M Campbell as soprano and R L Edwards as pianist.
The Scarsdale audience will view a graphic Robinson Crusoe film at Roger Ascham School on March 31 with three showings at 2 00 PM 4 00 PM and 8 15 PM Tickets cost fifty cents and may be obtained from committee members Mrs Donald Ross Hartsdale Mrs Max Meyer Mrs Ambrose McCabe White Plains Mrs A C Pagel and Mrs F O Ayres Scarsdale.
Mrs Louise Fowler Gignoux will lecture on The Responsibilities of America at Scarsdale High School auditorium Wednesday March 28 at 8 15 pm. Audience mainly army and navy men praised her clear concise reasoning and the Civics Class arranged the event for Scarsdale.
