Dean Rusk of Fenimore Road and head of the Rockefeller Foundation and General Education Board will speak on Some Unfinished Business in our Foreign Relations at the Scarsdale League of Women Voters annual luncheon on Friday March 26 at 12 30 at the Woman's Club. Rusk rose to national prominence in the State Department as Assistant Secretary for United Nations Affairs Deputy Under-Secretary and Deputy Secretary. He is a Georgia native who studied at St John's Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and later taught government at Mills College. He served in the armed forces from 1940 to 1946.

School Board Approves Teacher Salary Increases

Beck-Moore Team Wins Not’ Title In Tennis Championship
The national women’s platform tennis championship was won on March 7 at Fox Meadow Tennis Club by Mrs. T Edmund Beck and Mrs. Oscar F Moore who defeated Mrs. William F Koegel and Mrs. John A Schwable 6-1 6-1 to defend their title from 1952 and 1953. 27 teams from clubs in Westchester Connecticut New York Long Island and New Jersey competed. Luncheon was served by Mrs. Schwabler and committee. Semifinalists Percivall Fuller and Ruth Chalmers lost to Koegel and Schwable 9-11 6-4 9-7. Edward Raymond and Peyton Ruxford were defeated by Beck and Moore 6-2 6-4. Consolation winners were Frederick Waterman and John Decker who beat Clifford Couch and Laurence Wood 6-4 6-3.
