Scarsdale reports its Assembly Hall hosts the first showing of the Old Testament films by Armande Way through the National Non Theatrical Exchanges. The three million dollar production involved many specialists and extensive world travel for accuracy.
The Woman's Club Civic Section suspends meetings until after the Children's Court Conference in the White Plains Court House. The third session is March 16 at 3:30 pm on truancy and delinquency causes with Judge Appell and Prof. Kirkhway. Subsequent sessions are March 28 and April 6 and 13 with additional speakers.
Books manuscripts and autographs from the library of Mrs Luther B Livingston of Cambridge Massachusetts were sold at Anderson Galleries New York on the prior Monday and Tuesday. Livingston, formerly of Scarsdale and Hartsdale, is linked with Harvard's Harry B Widener Memorial Library. Notice of the sale arrived too late for last week's Inquirer.
Mrs J Larned Green of Nelson Road and Mrs Thomas Fisher of Walworth avenue near Scarsdale announce a new business venture. On March 14 they open a novelty shop at Mrs Fisher's house offering women sport dresses children’s dresses blouses sweaters scarves maids aprons handkerchiefs and gift novelties.

The March 7 Parent Teachers Association meeting at the High School featured Dr Ralph Ryan on quarantining contagious diseases and Horace Mann School headmaster Tillinghast on parental chaperonage. Scarsdale police cases included Greenburgh officer William MacCabee arrested in White Plains over stolen autos and Brown of Hartsdale charged with receiving. The Village Board reviewed garbage disposal plans and considered a bond issue to fund land and an incinerator with a Paterson plant study, while Westchester women noted on county commissions and civic groups.
The Greenacres Players contributed 1200 to the Hitchcock Memorial Church Woman's Guild and 600 to the Building Fund. Proceeds from last spring’s Snappily Married funded the gifts as the group plans a May musical comedy in the new Scarsdale Community auditorium. Malcolm Curry was elected chair man. The show will share proceeds with the Congregational Church. The play, a musical comedy about Egypt, is authored by S B Steel with Roy S Durstine assisting. Bly handles dancing and a professional directs staging.
Emma Denkinger of Wellesley College and BPsther Wood of Waltham plan a Elizabethan lecture recital at the White Plains Meeting House on March 27 to benefit the Radcliffe Endowment Fund. The program features songs from 16th and 17th century ballads and Shakespearean verse with Denkinger on piano or harpsichord and Wood performing authentic songs. Tickets cost 1 to 1.50 dollars through Mrs Manuel Whittemore.

The Wayside Players present a varied bill at the Congregational Church Assembly Hall on Friday April 6 with Booth Tarkington and Stewart Walker works and the premiere of The Crime by Percy Waxman. Stars from Greenacres Players and Fireside Players join the cast for the occasion.
A well known local character named Monte was found dead in a barn at Mrs. Gilbert’s property near Fenimore and Tompkins Road. He lay buried under newspapers in a loft, likely freezing after last night’s zero temperature. Dr. Ryan said he had been dead about three days, with no identification or money. His body was taken to J. T. Lockwood’s. Scarsdale town funded burial.
The Hitchcock Memorial Church Women's Guild holds its second luncheon on April 9 at 1:30 PM. Mrs. B. Jennings will sell tickets for one dollar at the March meeting.
Village President Rich ard R. Hunter appoints a public committee to study the advisability of procuring a City Charter for Scarsdale. The panel includes George A. Har wood as chair and eighteen other citizens from residential districts and village interests. The group will report to a forthcoming public meeting after its conclusions are prepared.
