Arthur A. Levin of 29 Valley Road accuses the Town Club leadership of petty infighting over the non partisan election issue in Scarsdale. Levin, calling himself the minority of one, blasts a confidential committee report reference and warns he will release full reports to the press if not made public within 30 days.
A suit filed Tuesday by Dr. Ferdon and others seeks a public referendum on removing Chase Road Lot 14 from park status under Village Law 1 of 1963. The action targets Mayor Rogers and the Village Board, argues the board misapplied state law, and contests Local Law 1 as invalid for lack of required facts. A March 27 hearing is set in Westchester Supreme Court.
Walter F. Fogg, longtime principal who opened Scarsdale Junior High in 1957, will retire at end of current school year. He and his wife plan to move to Florida for new business duties. Superintendent Harold Howe II and the Board express regret and praise his service.

Harris Wofford Jr former Scarsdale resident has been named associate director of planning and evaluation for the Peace Corps. He has served as Peace Corps representative in Ethiopia and will return to the U.S. in mid March to begin directing long range planning and evaluation of Peace Corps performance.
Officials from Scarsdale and its fire departments meet at Village Hall to draft integrated rules for paid and volunteer fighters. The program, urged by the New York Fire Insurance Rating Organization, includes volunteer training and a formal liaison with the village administration. A March 19 follow up is slated as meetings continue. The administration coordinates with the New York State Division of Fire Safety, which offers local training courses as part of the plan.
The Inquirer defends local gas stations amid a Rye neighbor's price complaints. It cites free enterprise, higher Scarsdale costs, and distribution factors, arguing stations deserve fair returns and that consumers weigh price against service and locality. Fill ’er up, Joe.
Scarsdale aims to raise 42300 in a Red Cross drive announced by fund chairman Helge S. Johnson. The campaign focuses on mail and phone solicitation with door-to-door calls dropped, directing about half locally to Westchester for first aid blood safety and disaster services and the rest to national headquarters for national disaster relief.
