Scarsdale residents vote Monday March 8 on merging School Districts 1 and 2 after a long study spanning from 1947 to 1964. The nine PM closing time at Scarsdale Junior High marks the end of a decades long consolidation debate led by a citizens committee and local boards.
On Monday March 8 residents vote on merging Scarsdale's two school districts under a single board. Eligibility requires US citizenship 21 years plus 30 days district residency and either real property ownership or a lease contract or a parent with a child in district school. Voting at Scarsdale Junior High School 3 PM to 9 PM.
Four inspectors from the Rating Organization spent three days in Scarsdale to assess fire defenses and determine if the Village retains its Class A rating and key rate of 24. The probe covered equipment, water supply, hydrant pressure, pumping capacity, and fire records, with officials noting improvements since the FIRO report and Bruce Smith survey.
Rep. Ogden Reid of Westchester County adds an amendment to the President's Education Act to let area boards of cooperative educational services share in Title I funds for joint projects. The measure allows BOCES and two or more districts to apply for federal aid for education and school construction targeting low income children. Reid and Rep. Scarsdale and Hartsdale commuters would pay an extra dollar per month starting next May under a revised rate schedule filed with the New York State Public Service Commission by the New York Central Railroad. The plan would lift monthly tickets to 30 dollars from 29 and raise single rides to 1.50 from 1.25, aimed at offsetting payroll costs from nationwide wage awards retroactive to January 1, 1964, costing the railroad about 133000 dollars more each month in the New York suburban area.
The Scarsdale National Bank and Trust Company announces new and more convenient banking hours at its five offices. The main office on East Parkway will be open from 7:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily and from 7 p.m. to an unspecified close.

At a stormy four hour public hearing the Greenburgh Town Board reversed the Planning Board and denied Ralph E Ragette and associates a zoning change from Light Office Building to Designed Shopping for 11.6 acres on Central Park Avenue Greenville just south of Midway Shopping Center. The board recessed at midnight after extensive discussion.
