Water tower plan near Beaver-Webb land faces zoning clash

Mr. Battle informs the Board of Water Commissioners of Scarsdale they plan a ninety foot high sixty foot diameter water tower on Garden Road adjoining Mrs. Alice Beaver-Webb’s eight acre parcel. The site lies in residential districts where such a structure may not be erected and a restrictive covenant limits usable land. He urges trustees to view the premises before any zoning amendments or expenditures proceed.

Acquired in four parcels starting in 1918, improvements began in 1922 and completed by 1924 after zoning adoption. Valued at least 60 000 dollars, owner asserts over 100 000. Mrs. Beaver-Webb plans this as her lifelong home. The straight-line distance from porch to the water tower site is about 175 feet.
