School Board Acts on Staff Changes and New Appointments
The Board of Education met during a rainy open session to approve resignations and new hires. Longtime staff departures include art teacher Elizabeth Hurwich, language teacher Paul Ryan, social studies teacher Ruth Griswold, and longtime custodian Patrick McMahon, all with formal regrets. New hires and substitutes include English and speech teacher John Hemmerly, art substitute Rosemary Hintz, nurse substitutes Lily Holmes and M. Kay Houbertz, commercial studies teacher M. Kay Houbertz, and English teacher Franklin Myers along with kindergarten teacher Marian Finneran plus several substitute teachers.

Westchester County Hospital Beds Hit 97 Percent
A New York Joint Hospital Survey indicates Westchester County has met 97 percent of its hospital bed needs. The commission endorses a 750 million long range plan to expand facilities, using existing non profit hospitals where possible, adding 54,000 beds statewide. Westchester has 2,581 beds total with 1,289 suitable and 193 non suitable. 75 beds are still needed.

The Scarsdale High School Senior Band will give its final concert Friday night June 18 outdoors in the Junior High School courtyard weather permitting. Director Willard S. Briggs promises a varied program including military marches pop songs and Victor Herbert selections with Louise Burleigh harpist as featured soloist. Graham Williams will perform trumpet and a clarinet solo is planned. The General Organization sponsors the program which begins at 8 15 with free admission. If bad weather the concert moves indoors to the auditorium.

Junior League Seeks Custodian Role for Library Site
A letter from the Junior League of Scarsdale to the Village Board asks to be appointed custodian of the present library building when a new library is built.
