Nan Greacen Creates Portraits From Her Harwood Studio
Nan Greacen works daily in her attic Harwood Building studio painting still lifes and portraits. Her works hang in about 100 Scarsdale homes and at the Grand Central Art Gallery in the Biltmore Hotel. She studied at Grand Central School of Art under her father Edmund Greacen and taught there for a decade. She and her husband Rene Faure moved to Scarsdale with their daughters Nancy and Renee seeking a good public school. Nan conducts classes for adults and children and recently exhibited past and present students’ works along with her own. She is listed in Who’s Who in America and holds multiple memberships and a recent prize in Westchester Artists Exhibit. Her portrait process starts with a charcoal sketch then oil painting after several sittings.
