Aviation Field Opens for Trips
The Wilmot road aviation field near Scarsdale in New Rochelle opened by F. W. Dalrymple and W. F. Haviland of Alexander Aircraft drew about five hundred to a thousand visitors for a Sunday display. Bennie Howard performed stunts including the falling leaf and Immelmann turn while passengers took short spins. The field is licensed by the U S Department of Commerce and will offer day and night service soon with flying instruction courses and taxi trips offered at higher mileage rates. The Eagle Rock biplane with an eight cylinder motor is for sale.

Thirty-Two Cars Inspected In Safety Campaign
Thirty-two cars were examined at the Ruggiero Auto Sales Company garage on Freight Way during the first week of the Public Safety Period proclaimed by Governor Smith from July 18 to August 6. Eight cars had defects including brakes in six, unadjusted lights, and a defective steering wheel. The Ruggiero Company serves as Scarsdale’s official inspection station offering free inspections. Cars passing receive a yellow windshield sticker signed by the tester.

Miss Butler, Former Fox Meadow Owner, Dies at Home
Emily Ogden Butler of Fox Meadow Scarsdale died at her home July 25 1927 in her eighty eighth year. Her funeral was held at the Butler residence led by Reverend Dr Farr of Brick Presbyterian Church New York. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. She was born July 7 1840 in Kinderhook Landing New York, eldest daughter of Charles and Eliza Ogden Butler. Her uncle Benjamin Franklin Butler was US attorney general and her maternal uncle William B Ogden was Chicago's first mayor. Her father helped fund educational and philanthropic causes and served as Union Theological Seminary director and president of NYU Council.

Drainage Bond Issue Planned for Village voters

Storm Disables Pumping Station at Scarsdale
A lightning strike weeks ago burned out parts of the Scarsdale water supply pumping station switchboard on Ardsley road. The outage forced shifts between automatic, manual, and emergency gasoline pumping as crews worked around the clock to restore full service. Temporary connections allowed limited operation while awaiting repairs. The village depended on standpipe storage with four to five hour supply intervals. Continued on page three.

Pleads Guilty on Burglary Charges
James Francis Monahan known as Boston Billy pleaded guilty in Mineola Court to grand larceny and burglary tied to the May 29 Long Island Livermore residence robbery. He and Barry, serving a Sing Sing term, stole over 90000 dollars in jewelry from Mr and Mrs Livermore and guests. Sentence could range sixty to eighty years with a possible adjustment if jewels are restored.

Fined for Reckless Driving on Popham Road
James Capparelli of 50 Oak Street New Rochelle was fined 25 dollars in Scarsdale police court for reckless driving on Popham Road July 16. An earlier similar summons had previously been dismissed. Other fines ranged from 5 to 15 dollars for offenses including minor operation, nighttime parking, lack of rear light, and speeding.
