Plot Diagram Requirement for Building Permits Adopted

Scarsdale Village Board adopted amendments to the building code requiring plot diagrams before permits. The changes, proposed by Rudolph P. Miller, include filing to scale diagrams showing new construction and existing structures and adherence to approved plans. A new clause prohibits reducing lot area without filing a revised diagram.

Village Proceeds With Sewer District No 3 Plans

Village engineer Arthur Boniface and sewer commissioners will advance plans for district three to the village board in September. The Hutchinson River project prompts abandonment of a proposed pumping station and force main at Arthur Manor and Westover with a $15,000 cost. Construction on the county appropriation project may start within 90 days, with partial work possibly by next summer.

Scarsdale Golf Club match play results and ball sweepstakes

At Scarsdale Golf Club on Saturday July 21, J L Closs and Arthur Myles led par match play by three up. Ball sweepstakes saw Class A E E Sturges 76 274 and Class B R B Marchant 92 19 73. Afternoon sweepstakes had Class A Erskine 79 9 70 and a three way tie in Class B among Lownes 100 23 77 Burbank 97 20 77 and Marchant 960 19 77.

Parkway Spencer Corporation Formed For Scarsdale Tract

A group of 40 Scarsdale residents headed by Dietrich Gristede forms the Parkway Spencer Corporation with $1,000,000 capital to develop the seven and three quarter acre Popham tract bordered by East Parkway Spencer Place Chase Road and Crane Road. Plans for a 500 room hotel were previously announced and work halted after purchase last June. The future development remains undetermined pending village needs and demands.

Village Agrees On House Numbers Record and Sign Rules

A village ordinance requires a town board of assessors chair, the village engineer, and the water department superintendent to maintain a house number registry. George Clifton introduced the measure and urged firms and residents to comply with sign regulations adopted last spring. Notices will go to advertisers. noncompliance will trigger enforcement steps. The existing rules limit real estate signs to three by four feet per lot and set back requirements, with larger signs allowed on subdividable acreage.

County Traffic Study Hears Regulated Uniform Rules

Five Arrests For Spencer Place Two Hour Parking Rule

Five arrests were made this week for violation of the two hour parking rule on Spencer place. One offender was fined two dollars. the other four received suspended sentences.

Arcade Links East Parkway to Harwood Court in Scarsdale

Construction advances on an arcade connecting 26 East Parkway to the Harwood Building, creating a public passage through the building from west to east. The Post Office quarters will join Scarsdale National Bank, with the Harwood Building ready for occupancy next week.

Curran Is Appointed Scarsdale Plumbing Inspector

John P. Curran of Curran and Curran, Scarsdale avenue, named Plumbing Inspector for the Village of Scarsdale by the Village Board Tuesday night. The new post covers inspecting new structures, issuing permits, and performing rough and final inspections. Curran has lived in Scarsdale 17 years and runs a long-time plumbing business with his father M. C. Curran. He will hold daily office hours at the Village Hall from 1 to 2 p.m.

Port Chester Rotary Wins County Golf Meet

The Port Chester Rotary captured the county golf tournament at Westchester Hills on Wednesday. Eleven Scarsdale Rotary members competed. The next meeting is set for August 22 in Port Chester, with the final event at Wykagy Country Club in New Rochelle on September 12.
