District adopts revised school use charges schedule
The Board of Education approved a revised schedule of charges for use of school space in District 1 with immediate effect. Overall average increases run about 10 percent, ranging from no charge to a 20 percent rise, varying by organization type and fund-raising activity. Class I includes village civic educational and charitable groups with exceptions, Class II covers others using facilities for fund-raising. Some groups pay only direct custodial costs, such as professional educators groups PTA Council and certain civil defense bodies. Other organizations pay direct custodial costs for appropriate uses, including The Town Club Woman's Club Neighborhood Associations and local election bodies.

Proprieter Killed as Private Plane Crashes at Block Island
Francis J. Lavelle 40 of Yonkers, Royal Cleaners proprietor on Central Ave Mt Joy Ave, is reported lost after a private plane he rode in crashed into Block Island Sound. Plane owner John F. Danko of Queens and his three year old son were recovered. Lavelle’s wallet was found.

About 23 percent of Eastchester voters registered during five days of Central Registration outreach last week. Supervisor Francis X. O Rourke reported 4 141 residents used the facilities. On Friday over 1 000 were turned away at Town Hall and about 1 000 more at Bronxville and Tuckahoe. Peak registrations occurred 7 30 to 8 30 p m. Eastchester turnout trails only White Plains county office, which opened May 1 and recorded 13 356 registrants countywide by July 19.
