Heart Association funds multiple research projects in Westchester
The Westchester Heart Association announced more than 7000 dollars allocated to two local heart research projects this year. Dr. Reginald Higgons and Dr. Anthony Albanese receive 3500 dollars to study rheumatic fever in children and nutritional changes during illness and recovery at St. Luke’s Convalescent Hospital. A separate 3675 dollar grant goes to Dr. Stanley Bradley and colleagues at Columbia University to examine blood vessel responses in patients with kidney inflammation, hypertension, and chronic liver disease. This research aims to improve understanding of hypertension-related mortality and cardiovascular disease.

Boy in Scarsdale chimney rescue ends with hospital visit
William McGrath fourteen of Scarsdale Avenue fell feet first down a chimney at 8 Strathmore Road while chasing a bounced ball. Police rescued him with the Eastchester ladder truck, and he was taken to Yonkers Hospital in shock. The Pollock chimney will not need sweeping this year.

Benefit aids Chinese intellectuals in America
A Scarsdale Lifeline treasurer forwards 400.99 to the China Institute in America for a benefit toward Chinese intellectuals stranded by Communist occupation.
