At Edgewood Greenacres and Edgemont schools hundreds of Scarsdale children age four to twelve attend morning day camps. Under Rupert Brown the program runs three periods daily wood shop crafts and outdoor games with age group groups and varied activities including visits to George Washington's Headquarters. Crumm Receives Commission In Army Men in Service
Lieutenant Colonel William J. Crumm chief of the Bombardment Branch at Strategic Air Command Washington is awarded a regular army commission by the War Department. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A Crumm of 145 Lyons Road he served with the Eighth Air Force as a bomber pilot in England and with the Twentieth in the Pacific. He is married to Ella Jane Tenney of Mesa Arizona and has served since September 1941.

Colonel Sol P. Fink of Camp Crowder Missouri received the Legion of Merit from Mayor O Dwyer at City Hall on July 11 for directing the Signal Corps Training Regiment from August 1942 to November 1945. Fink who joined the Army in 1912 at fourteen served in WWI and WWII, later becoming a Hirsch Company stock broker. He was promoted to full colonel in April 1941 and worked under General Prosser in both world wars.

Dr. Giles S. Terry of 26 Taunton Road, a Navy Medical Corps commander for three years, received the Silver Star Medal for gallantry on Okinawa from May 24 to May 26, 1945. He led a rescue squad after a bomb hit, performed amputation and blood transfusions despite injuries, and saved a life while serving at the Naval Base Hospital. He resumed practice in Scarsdale after release and earlier service overseas from March 1945.

Recreation Project To Get State Aid In Scarsdale
