Scout Council Buys Adirondack Camp For 20000
Fenimore Cooper Boy Scout Council President John Fries announced last week the purchase of a 756 acre Adirondack camp from Camp Hardley Inc for 20000. The site near Brant Lake 210 miles from White Plains features a 35 acre lake, is larger than the Read Camp at Long Pond and will be prepared for operation next summer pending inspections by the national Boy Scout engineering service. Rehabilitation costs are expected to be lower than building anew. The camp includes a main cedar lodge administration building a dining hall and a caretaker’s home with troop sites planned for independent camping under troop leadership.
