Tightened Water Rules Go In Effect July 26
Scarsdale imposes stricter conservation limits at Village Board session. Beginning July 26 hose or mechanical water use is banned except for firefighting. Pools without recirculation are banned and water cooled air conditioners restricted 9 pm to 6 am. Auto water-saving devices limit makeup water to 5 percent of normal use. Car washing allowed only at establishments with 50 percent recirc.

The Scarsdale Public Library announces a summer loan program in the adult and children’s rooms. Borrowers may take a limited number of books for summer reading and keep them until October 1. Most of the 59 000 volumes are available on extended loan, with two week and school reading list titles excluded. Special summer reading displays aid selections, and borrowers must request the privilege at checkout.
