Edgemont-Greenville Board Elects Shevlin President
Gerard T. Shevlin of Byron Place was chosen president of the Edgemont-Greenville School Board at its annual meeting Tuesday night. The board also elected D. Robert Parman as vice president and Mrs. George Engelhardt as clerk, with Myron Wright reappointed treasurer. The district noted completion of the Edgemont High School project with final payment to Circle Construction Co. and praised architects Warren H. Ashley and associates. Plans were approved for four tennis courts four storage shelters and water extensions on athletic fields. Transportation bids awarded to Southchester Bus Co. for 1956-57 and Borden's to supply cafeteria ice cream. Next meeting set for Monday Aug. 6.

The District 1 Board of Education voted tenure for several elementary and high school staff including Helen Auleta Heathcote and Florence Grunert nurse teacher tenures. Resignation of Ellen Chaffee Fox Meadow was accepted. Probationary appointments begin Sept 1 for Becker Parker Benedict. Substitute appointments for next year approved for Colby Frasier Harker and Seeley.

Legion Post 52 drives Scarsdale recruitment drive
At a July 5 meeting of the Scarsdale Post 52 American Legion membership committee chaired by James A. Crist, a summer drive toward a group induction on Sept 5 was announced. Post officials report postcards mailed to Scarsdale residents yielded strong responses and renewals from civic leaders, with aims to enroll 400 more veterans next fiscal year. Applications are available from Robert E. Delany, George F. Leveille Jr., Spencer Pharmacy, or the Scarsdale Agency.

Army Specialist Hoyle Serves in Field Training Exercise
Field Training Exercise participation by Army Specialist Third Class Robert FE Hoyle, son of Mr and Mrs Earle Hoyle of Kenilworth Apts, with the 11th Infantry Division in Southern Germany. Hoyle, a 1949 NY Agricultural and Technical Institute Delhi graduate, is a tank driver in Company C of the 11lst Tank Battalion, formerly a Seaman Transportation driver in Binghamton. He entered the Army in December 1954 and arrived overseas in June.
