Menke Re-elected To Third Term As Board President
Betty Menke was re-elected board president and Joseph Ullman re-elected vice president for the 1973 1974 school year at a July 10 statutory meeting. Menke has lived in Scarsdale 20 years and is active in local groups. Ullman is a New York City attorney and Yale and Columbia Law School graduate. New to the board is Dr Robert Shay, replacing Marvin Moser, while Jackson Browning began his second term as board member.

Hearing Slated on PC Safety in White Plains
Congressman Ogden Reid announced a Federal Railroad Administration hearing on Penn Central safety in Westchester. The all day session July 28 at 9:30 a.m. in the County Center Little Theater will include FRA participation by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and New York State DOT. Stakeholders and independent experts are urged to attend and provide information.

Dr. Marvin Robinson introduced Mayor Murray Steyer who spoke on American heritage. ponies from George Kelly’s stable provided rides. Winners included John Beyersdorf in football throw and Dennis Collins in 20 yard dash. A square dance is planned for October 21 at St. Pius Church.

The Scarsdale Adult Band presents its fourth concert with guest conductor Charles Affelt and a program of beloved concert band works. Affelt will lead The English Folksong Suite and Irish Tune from County Derry with soloists Bill Schord and David Schneck. The program also features The New England Triptych, Illinois March, and Clarinet Polka with Jeanne Weber and others.

The Scarsdale Pool complex held two Independence Day celebrations with races and games for all ages, including baby pools and parent child relays. More than 3,600 members attended the Sunday events, featuring penny hunts, swimming races, tug of war, and a water polo exhibition, aided by Scarsdale National Bank & Trust Company sponsorship.
