Softball League Opens 11 Teams Compete in Scarsdale
The 11th annual Scarsdale Collegiate Softball League began under William L. Foley with clubs Black Sox Rebels Drifters Post Office O'Farrell's Amalgamates Sprain Valley Planters Corham Sox Stelletoes and Braves led by Robin Head Tony Ward and others. Play runs to Sept 1 with 6 30 p.m. games Monday through Thursday at Greenacres Fox Meadow and Crossway fields. Next week schedule lists Sox Braves Corham Black Sox Sprain Valley Stell toes Amalgamated Drifters O'Farrell's Rebels Post Office.

Westchester Junior Red Cross selects two seniors for Hood College training
At Training Center Judith Switzer of Edgemont High School and George Goebeler of Scarsdale a senior at Archbishop Stepinac High School were chosen by the Westchester County Chapter Junior Red Cross to attend the leadership training center at Hood College Frederick Maryland from June 30 to July 7. They were driven to Hood College by the Chapter Motor Service and are described as outstanding students.

School bids opened for Fox Meadow classroom project

Take-Cover Drill For Civil Defense Training
A national civil defense drill requires all traffic to halt and all persons to take shelter for a 10 minute period today between noon and two. The drill runs from today at noon until Sunday at seven p.m. The take cover signal is a three minute war bloom tone from air raid sirens followed by a three minute steady siren blast to end the drill.

British clergyman to preach at Union Services this Sunday
The Rev. Eastchester residents must register this year at the Town Hall on Post Road near Lord and Taylor's. Registration runs next Monday to Friday from 1 to 8 30 p.m. daily. After this year only moves or two-year voting gaps require reregistration.
