The Citi zens' Advisory Committee on Cable Television met for the first time June 29 at Village Hall, chaired by Carol Stix. The group will study franchise feasibility, educate itself, reconvene July 20, and later advise Trustees on a potential local cable system.
Joseph Hofheimer was elected president of the Scarsdale Board of Education at the annual meeting on Thursday July 1. Ellen Buzbee was chosen as vice president. Hofheimer, a 27 year Scarsdale resident and Richard Bauer and Company president, has served on the board since 1971 and welcomed new member Edmund Schroeder. Buzbee has lived in Scarsdale 13 years and joined the board in 1974.
Judge Leonard Rubenfeld of the New York Supreme Court Westchester dismisses Paul Feiner’s petition against the Mayor, Village Board, and deputy clerk. He finds no law requires votes or resolutions to be public and that the contested actions were administrative, not legislative, with minutes not misrepresented. Feiner plans no further action before the Sunshine Law takes effect next January.
The Zoning Board of Appeals faces changes to its procedures after County Supreme Court Judge Robert J. Trainor ruled the board’s denial of Dr. Itamar Salamon’s residential professional office permit arbitrary and capricious. Holden may re-argue, possibly by September, to overturn the decision.
The July 1 article corrects Lt Terence Shames appointment by noting his Scarsdale Police Department start year. He transferred to Scarsdale in November 1961 after eight years with the Larchmont Police Department.
