Police Apprehend Boys Who Fired Edgewood School
Detectives Ed Meehan Tom Fitzmorris and Sgt John Donovan of Scarsdale police interviewed two boys aged nine and eleven who admitted starting five fires in Edgewood School on Tuesday June 24 after entering through an unlocked window. Fire burned out on fire resistant floors. no major damage occurred. The incident was reported to the Board of Education and the boys' parents.

Toporcer Honored At Buffalo Stadium Night
George Specs Toporcer of Longview Drive and Mrs Toporcer visited Buffalo where he was honored at Buffalo Stadium on June 21 with a Toporcer Night. A crowd of 8 500 cheered the former National League infielder who lost his sight last August while achieving success as Bisons manager. At the final meeting of the season on June 18 Mrs Rene Leveille announced the slate for the Scarsdale American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52 to be voted on at the first 1952 53 meeting September 17. Slated for president is Mrs Randolph Hoffecker with others including Mrs George Leveille Jr first vice president Mrs Thomas F Mahony Jr secretary Miss Mary Burke treasurer Miss Kay Mahony and sergeant at arms Miss Laurette Travers. Executive committeewomen named were Mrs George E Leveille Sr Mrs Emma Pomponi and Mrs Robert W Auld. The unit reported Poppy Drive proceeds of 95 and about 50 cartons of cigarettes donated to Castle Point veterans hospital plus a 10 donation to the Reporter Dispatch Children Camp Fund. Mrs Pomponi noted 95 medical dressings were made for Rosary Hill Home and veterans were hosted at Montrose Hospital recently. Installation of officers will follow the Sept 17 election.
