Italian Gunman of Tuckahoe Shot Five Times
James Romeo of Columbus Avenue was shot five times by Al Fred Salvatore last Sunday night and is recovering at Lawrence Hospital. Sheriff Doyle and deputies hunted Salvatore with German police dogs, but a lime kiln blast disrupted the chase, leaving Salvatore at large.

Bronxville Grade Crossing Fatality Claims Seventh Victim
Mrs Florence M Swanstrom 45 a Ho tel Gramatan resident for about a year is the seventh victim of Bronxville grade crossing accidents in a decade. She was struck by an express train traveling toward White Plains while crossing to catch the 624 train to New York to visit her daughter. The engineer attempted to stop but she was thrown and killed instantly. The night crossing tender had the gates down and no blame attached to him. Mrs Swanstrom widow of former Borough President J Edward Swanstrom had two children. A suitor, Mr Walter A Evans, secretary of the Wilson Adams Lumber Co Mount Vernon, said they planned to marry. Eyewitnesses say she did not act like one intent on self harm.

Dishwasher hid 2000 jewels on waist in White Plains
Joseph Darrow a dishwasher at the N A restaurant in White Plains was arrested Sunday after police found a package of diamonds bound to his waist with a cloth. The gems owned by chef Charles Fierson are believed to belong to the late Mrs Fierson. Darrow confessed only after officers stripped him and removed the binding.

Holmes Jones Wins Jury Award in Disbarment Case
Holmes Jones of Tuckahoe won a second victory when a sealed verdict in Part II of the Supreme Court before Justice Keogh awarded him 200 in addition to fees already collected. Mrs Devine sought to set aside the verdict. Keogh gave 60 days to make a case and a 90 day stay pending further action. Jones announced plans to pursue disbarment to the highest authorities.
