The Literary and Improvement Society of Hartsdale hosted Hackley who spoke on cotton growth from field to exchange point. He said U S cotton accounted for two thirds of world supply and warned southern growers about inferior non export quality. Specimens were shown as a curious, well attended lecture concluded with audience engagement.
The governing board of the Teachers Association will meet at Scibor to discuss plans to interest the Board of Education in the future. The association is anxious about the need for pictures in schools.
Edwin Sweet and Frank bought wire lots described as shies 2 and ast plots through the E Farley Organization located at 1si Hathaway Drive.
The Suffrage Club holds a four week school with an all day session on Tuesday to train for the campaign. Mrs A Lilvermdre of Ykers and Mrs Halsey Wils of Wh Plains will teach public speaking and political work in classes beginning next week. Three sessions are planned for Tuesday and Thursday with luncheon served. The club thanks the building’s 1 per floor for space.
The Schrsdale Neighborhood Association governing board held four meetings. Committees were appointed including Plan and Scope chaired by Miss Carolin and Lands chaired by Mr. rber.
A long letter describes sending soap and eau de cologne to wounded soldiers via Red Cross efforts. Scarsdale donors in Westchester County boosted funds after President Wilson's appeal. A letter from Walter Kent, England praises Danish items, recounting how soap and cologne uplifted bedridden men and aided wound care, with anticipation for a second shipment.
The regular Scarsdale Village Board session now convenes Friday night instead of the originally planned evening. The change moves the meeting date to the upcoming Friday for residents to attend or watch.
On January 19 Sergeant Smith arrested Toni Racine for driving an automobile along the Post road without a chauffeur's license. The trial before Justice Mercer was postponed at the defendant's request.
Residents urge telephone notices to Mr George W Both to record engagement dates. The plan aims to prevent clashing social events such as the Men’s Club of the aggregational Church changing its date to avoid a France lecture at Lockwood Hall, leaving some citizens unable to attend both events.

Scarsdale streets receive new names to end confusion. Fisher street becomes Fenimore road and the Post road is renamed Mamaroneck road. Tompkins avenue will run from the Post road near Fox Meadows, and the old Mamaroneck White Plains road becomes White Plains road. Placemards announce the changes.
James E. Peabody of Scarsdale led a dinner with New York Police Department rookies at a Life Extension Institute study event. The meal featured whale bread with coconut oil and peanut pulp butter, baked peas, stuffed peppers, tea, and fruit, served for ten cents per person.
District Attorney Lee Parsons Davis named William F. Hoffkins of New Rochelle as County Investigator at $1800 annually. Hoffkins began his term this morning, previously studied law in New Rochelle and served as a supervisor there before 1914, holding four terms.
The Scarsdale Athletic Club basketball team meets the Young Men's Catholic Club of Waverly in a morning game at Waverly Hall East. Scarsdale has been playing very well this year.
Scarsdale residents will attend a Tuesday evening concert on February 6 at Memorial M E Church White Plains. A chorus of fifteen men from the Singers Club of New York will perform with soloists including Chapman Goold and Stanley with Jeffrey as violinist in attendance.
The Hitchcock Memorial Church schedules Sunday School at 9 45 AM and a preaching service at 11 AM with the pastor leading. A Tuesday night Bible study at the pastor’s home will cover Incidents in the Gospel of St John.
Mr Bethell confirms acceptance of appointment to the Bronx Parkway Commission. He says the work to convert an unattractive, disease breeding area into a beautiful public park is a task he is proud to undertake with Mr Cannon’s plans. He will not take Cannon’s place but will help complete the intended designs. He praises colleagues Grant and Niles and notes his return to private life after his term as Scarsdale Village President.
The Westchester County Board of Supervisors met in White Plains and received a petition to build two new bridges in Cortlandt crossing Annsville Creek. The plan was referred to Roads and Bridges. Harrison Supervisor Bull presented the Cortlandt town accounts totaling $5,738.37 and was authorized to pay.
The Congregational Church Men’s Club hosted a well attended social evening in the Sunday School room. Fifty five people attended last Wednesday as Mr. Murray, a noted baritone and humorist, entertained with songs and stories inviting all in Scarsdale to join regardless of church membership.
A lecture titled City Planning will be given at Scarsdale High School next Wednesday January 31st at 8:15 PM. Speaker Nelson P. Lewis Consulting Engineer of the Board of Estimate and Apportionment New York City will present. Village President Frank H Bethell will introduce him and Jay Downer Secretary and Engineer of the Parkway Commission will show slides of the Commission's work.
The Scarsdale Hotel on Tuckahoek Road, once run by Colloizzi of New York City, has been leased by new owners who plan to open it as a first class dinner venue.
