Lecture on cotton growth by S P Hackley at Hartsdale Fire House

The Literary and Improvement Society of Hartsdale hosted Hackley who spoke on cotton growth from field to exchange point. He said U S cotton accounted for two thirds of world supply and warned southern growers about inferior non export quality. Specimens were shown as a curious, well attended lecture concluded with audience engagement.

Suffrage Club Sets Teaching Sessions For Campaign

The Suffrage Club holds a four week school with an all day session on Tuesday to train for the campaign. Mrs A Lilvermdre of Ykers and Mrs Halsey Wils of Wh Plains will teach public speaking and political work in classes beginning next week. Three sessions are planned for Tuesday and Thursday with luncheon served. The club thanks the building’s 1 per floor for space.

New Names for Old Roads in Scarsdale

Scarsdale streets receive new names to end confusion. Fisher street becomes Fenimore road and the Post road is renamed Mamaroneck road. Tompkins avenue will run from the Post road near Fox Meadows, and the old Mamaroneck White Plains road becomes White Plains road. Placemards announce the changes.

Hoffkins Appointed County Investigator in New Rochelle

District Attorney Lee Parsons Davis named William F. Hoffkins of New Rochelle as County Investigator at $1800 annually. Hoffkins began his term this morning, previously studied law in New Rochelle and served as a supervisor there before 1914, holding four terms.

Westchester Supervisors Act on Cortlandt Bridge Plan

The Westchester County Board of Supervisors met in White Plains and received a petition to build two new bridges in Cortlandt crossing Annsville Creek. The plan was referred to Roads and Bridges. The Congregational Church Men’s Club hosted a well attended social evening in the Sunday School room. Fifty five people attended last Wednesday as Mr. Murray, a noted baritone and humorist, entertained with songs and stories inviting all in Scarsdale to join regardless of church membership.
