Runaway boy near death in icy box car incident
Ten year old Michael Schwartz once Irving Friedman ran away from the Hebrew Sheltering and Guardian Society of Pleasantville. He was found near the Tuckahoe freight yard Saturday morning frostbitten after riding in a box car on a frigid night. He required hospital care at Lawrence Hospital and was sent to an asylum. The boy reported wandering from Pleasantville toward White Plains after leaving the Crestwood home seeking food.
