The Anti-Saloon League urges local action on prohibition enforcement with a Jan 22 concerted discussion across 3000 churches. Major Roy A. Haynes will headline a Jan 23 union meeting in New York City to rally support for local ordinances and enforcement measures.
Police report numerous complaints of dogs approaching villagers on highways causing fear and harassment. Residents are urged to keep dogs on their property and off the roads. Village bulbs along highways are damaged by snowballs and stones. a $50 fine applies. Parents are asked to warn children.
The Home Savings Bank announced its officers for the ensuing year: David Cromwell president, Harry Hamilton vice president, J. T. Lockwood 2d vice president, John F. Krepps secretary, Adelbert T. Shaw assistant secretary, and Charles D. Horton counsel. Mrs. J. T. Lockwood reported to the Supervisors that the most valuable possession received during the year is the desk chair used by Washington at his headquarters in North White Plains. It was bequeathed to the Washingtons Headquarters by the late R. Guy McLane of New York City.
Miss Charlotte Bergh soprano and Mrs R L Edwards Jr pianist present a Child friendly program Saturday after 3 30 at the High School Auditorium. The concert opens with Old English pieces and Chinese Nursery Rhymes followed by works by Arensky Linn Seiler Worrell and Bemberg. Edwards offers MacDowell pieces and Bergh the Elf Man and The Owl. The program includes Schumann Grieg and MacDowell selections ending with Strauss Voci di Primavera.
The third subscription dance in Scarsdale drew a smaller crowd on January 18 due to weather but the dancers enjoyed lively music from the new orchestra, the same group that plays at the Biltmore Tuesday dinners. The dances are strengthening social ties across village sections.
A Grasslands Hospital social service report requests a piano player, pictures, pillows, and flowering plants to brighten wards and recreation rooms. Rumors say Albany will consider turning Westchester County into a single city with three or more boroughs. White Plains Mount Vernon and New Rochelle could form one. Harrison Rye and Mamaroneck another. Yonkers and nearby areas a third. Ex Mayor Wallin of Yonkers advocates the plan as a way to prevent duplication. Surrogate Slater predicts county cityhood within two years as a solution to common urban problems. Voters previously favored county government change, seen as a pathway to this city plan.
At the Scarsdale Nursing Association annual meeting the group unanimously voted to affiliate with the Community Service Committee of the Woman's Club. Officers were elected under the new plan, with the Nursing Association to maintain its own executive board and operate independently within general supervision. A prize baby patient appeared with her caretakers, drawing smiles.
A boy named Slaster Oliver Hyatt reports his Folsom 1922 bicycle was taken from the high school shed on January 6. Police aid is being used to locate the wheel and return it to the owner who is anxious to recover it.
Stark Young returns from abroad to lecture on the Contemporary Theatre of Spain and Italy before the New York Drama League. The event is Sunday afternoon January 22 at 8 30 p m at the Klaw Theatre.
At the annual meeting held at C. F. Bond's home, Edgemont Association members praised progress with 65 members, up from 44. The board plans sanded sidewalks, snow plowing, and road improvements, and a Town Board backed Sewer and Water Commission now overseen by association nominees Greist, Clapp, and Wright. Directors elected for three years: Roberts Walker, Benjamin Van Doren, and Phillip Rosster.

W W Nichols presides as president with Roberts Walker as vice president and C F Bond as secretary along with a full slate of standing committees led by E J Hanford and C F Bond.
At the County Trust annual stockholders meeting, WH Perkins of Farmers' Loan and Trust Company New York City replaces John J Riker on the board. Other directors include Cornelius A Agnew Armonk Charles J F Decker Croton Falls William A Duncan New York and several others. The same directors were elected by the County Safe Deposit Company with Cornelius P Young as president.
